Culture Minister Abid Raja (V) believes that Jonas Gahr Støre has transferred responsibility for the debate on the start of football and the reopening of Norway to parliamentary representative Trond Giske. The AP leader fights back strongly and claims that “the sport is bleeding.”

– It is especially true that Støre says that when it comes to all sports issues and the re-prioritization of society, it is Giske who is responsible for the Labor Party. Støre transfers responsibility and management to a parliamentary representative. I thought a party leader would have control over the situation itself and over how to deal with problems related to infection control, ”Raja told VG.

The date of a possible soccer opening has become a controversy between the government and the Ap in recent days. Giske has criticized Raja and the government for not opening up to superior football despite the Institute of Public Health having approved the union’s plan and been attacked by Health Minister Bent Høie in return. Giske’s work has led Raja to repeatedly ask Støre whether or not he is speaking on behalf of the Labor Party. On Saturday there was a response from the AP leader:

“Yes. And again; I think the sports minister should listen and acknowledge when the soccer union presents a proposal for the opening that FHI believes is inside, not to generate screaming and yelling on social media,” Støre wrote on Twitter. .

– Insecurities

VG was in contact with Støre’s political adviser, Siri Storstein Hytten, on Saturday morning regarding an interview request related to the debate about the opening date of football. He then stated that Giske commented on the case of the Labor Party.

After Støre’s game on Twitter in the afternoon, VG was again informed that Giske was speaking on behalf of the Labor Party. Støre didn’t even want to comment on the case at the time.

– When Støre is questioned about whether he also believes that football must come before anyone else who can also create solutions with good contagion regimes, he responds with insecurity, says Raja, who is accused of executing “screams and shouts on the networks social “leader of the workers.

– Norway will be opened jointly, controlled and over time. They are not screaming and screaming, but a strategy and a plan. It may appear that the Labor Party has no other strategy or plan. They only operate with projections and oscillations from one side to the other. Støre himself has been Minister of Health. What would do well here, when Giske is in open conflict with the government over these issues, is to endorse Health Minister Høie, not Giske.

– Political drama of the party

– Are you surprised that Støre chooses to let Giske speak on behalf of the Labor Party on these issues?

– They have to deal with internal politics themselves, but yes, it is a bit special. We will release new information on May 7th. Støre should deal with that, instead of letting Giske join the media and create a political drama for the party, Raja says.

Seniors wish Raja “good luck”

After Støre was confronted with the statements to Raja, the AP leader called VG on Saturday night. Now he gives an explanation of why Giske has testified in the case of the party.

– Trond Giske is the sports political spokesperson for the Labor Party. If Abid Raja has not mentioned it so far, I can confirm it and wish him good luck in the debates against his natural counterpart in the Labor Party. Trond Giske is a politician who has been Minister of Culture, knows the sport and has opinions that Abid Raja must take seriously and have arguments, not slogans, Støre tells VG.

– Raja says you have relinquished control to Giske. How do you look at it

– Erna Solberg has not relinquished control by naming Abid Raja Minister of Culture. In the Labor Party, we also distribute work assignments, and we have a very competent spokesperson in the field of sports. I am a little surprised that the Minister responsible for sport is no longer in line with sport. Many have to be patient with openness and many have to wait longer than they want, but at least they should feel that they have a minister in government who sees their situation and who also recognizes when they make a significant contribution, as the best football here. With the support of the Norwegian Sports Federation and with a seal of approval from the Institute of Public Health, says Støre.

Raja, who has been widely criticized by several soccer leaders for not having the right government financial crisis packages for clubs, says he has support in the sport.

– I can inform Støre that we have been in continuous dialogue with the Norwegian Sports Federation, the Norwegian Football Association and the Norwegian Football Association. I have also spoken with leaders from Rosenborg, Vålerenga, Brann, Haugesund, Kristiansund and other soccer clubs. They have told me that they trust that the government will make a responsible decision about when we can open up to football. As Minister of Sports, I am eager for soccer to start again, and the sport should be launched as soon as we consider it generally justifiable, says Raja.

Mayor rejects accusation

At the same time, Støre protests after hearing Raja accuse him of creating a political drama for the party. The AP leader says the government must take seriously that the Storting is interested in how Norway should open up.

– The government is on the agenda and must take responsibility for the reopening plan, but these are issues that are of great importance to the people, and therefore the Labor Party takes it seriously. I note that in Denmark the government is discussing the reopening in depth with the parties in Parliament. Then he calls Raja a political party drama. No, it is quite natural in our democracy in such a major crisis that the Storting not only adopts crisis packages, but also has a vision on how the reopening will take place.

Major praises the sport

In a conversation with VG, Gahr Støre paints a picture of a sports movement that is struggling hard and deserves help quickly. He believes that the plan that the Norwegian Football Association has prepared together with the Norwegian Sports Federation is an example to follow.

– Sports are bleeding, says Gahr Støre.

– Top football is now ahead to save jobs, finances and sports joy for all sports enthusiasts in Norway. They have come up with a plan that the Sports Federation supports and that the Norwegian Institute of Public Health says it takes infection control seriously. So we believe that it is not about sneaking in the queue, as the health minister says, but it is a good argument to consider if football should start. For me, this is not about elite soccer. In the Norwegian model, it is the best sports that finance much of the width. Starting it is also a rescue operation for the bank, says the AP leader.
