– It does not matter when the administrative head of the municipality appears in the newspaper for that reason. It is clear that it may have something to do with the reputation of the municipality. I go to bed for that, says Councilmember Kjell Jogerud on Marker to NRK.
It was Smaalenenes Avis who first wrote about the case.
This weekend he was in Sweden to pick up a boat he has there. He himself thinks it was okay to cross the border because he considered it strictly necessary maintenance.
But when he got into trouble due to the wind, two Swedes came to help him.
– This wasn’t something that took a long time and we weren’t close to each other either. He was between one and two meters away for three to five minutes, he says.
He checked himself
According to the councilor, he did not consider the two Swedes as close contacts. But he undoubtedly decided to get a crown test and prepare to be quarantined. So she stopped by a grocery store in Sweden to shop, before taking the crown test on Saturday.
– On Sunday I got an answer to the exam and then I went to work on Monday. In the morning, I contacted the municipal chief, he says.
The answer he received from the municipal chief was that he had a quarantine obligation.
– In the next round, I reported to the police for a possible violation of the quarantine provision. I did it because I had been at work on Monday, he says.
The speaker: – Seriously.
On Wednesday night, Mayor Theodor Bye in Marker called the city council to a meeting. There he will inform the rest of the political leadership about the case.
Bye says it is too early to say if the incident could have consequences for the councilor, but says he is taking the matter seriously.
– There are many reasons to take this seriously. It’s a bit about the reputation of the municipality. We who are leaders must lead by example, he tells NRK.
Jogerud himself is not concerned that the incident will have consequences for his work as a councilor.
– I’m not scared in that sense. I have done what I have done and I have to bear the consequences that it may have. But if it had been the case that he picked up the boat next weekend, he would have done things a little differently, he says.
He claims that the police have dropped the case
Jogerud says he should have stopped going to the store in Sweden, but emphasizes that he hasn’t had close contact with anyone there either.
As for the report, he says he received a verbal message from the police on Wednesday afternoon that the case had already been dropped.
– They said that I had put all the cards on the table and I tried to order the rules. I have not tried to elude myself at all and have had no desire to do anything else to do the right thing. Then I made a couple of mistakes, he says.
So far, NRK has been unable to contact Indre Østfold police to confirm that the case has been shelved.
