In an interview with the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Peskov, 52, says he had hardly any symptoms before testing positive for the coronavirus.

A mild fever still made him stay home for a few days, but when his condition worsened and he was diagnosed with a coronary infection, he was immediately hospitalized. There, bilateral pneumonia was detected.

Peskov tells Kommersant that he has not known Putin in a month. Also, there hasn’t been much gathering activity in the Kremlin in the past few weeks, and everyone who works in Russian government offices, according to Peskov, uses infection control teams. The circulating documents are sprayed with a disinfectant bag, he says.

Peskov’s wife, the former Olympic figure skating winner Tatjana Navka, also tested positive for the crown virus, but says she feels good.

Peskov has been a press spokesman for Putin since the turn of the millennium and is considered a close associate of the Russian president.
