PST confirms that they are investigating the computer attack on the Storting, in which unknown perpetrators broke into the email of several Storting representatives.

The investigation will seek to reveal whether a state actor is behind it, writes the Police Security Service (PST) on Twitter.

PST tells NRK that one of its hypotheses is that a state actor is behind TI’s attack on the Storting.

They also say that it may not be just a digital attack, but may be part of an intelligence operation against Norway.

The hack on the Storting was made public Tuesday afternoon, but was discovered last week. The Storting’s analysis shows that various amounts of data have been downloaded in relation to the theft from the email accounts of what they themselves refer to as ‘a small number of Storting representatives and employees’.

Representatives from the Storting of the Labor Party, the Socialist People’s Party and the Conservative Party confirmed Tuesday that their email addresses were among those targeted.

The director of the Storting also confirmed Tuesday that they had reported the case to the police.
