The government must eliminate the loophole in the property tax that allows municipalities to increase the level of taxes, demands Frp.
In the state budget for next year, the government proposes that the maximum property tax rate for residential and leisure property be lowered from 5 to 4 per thousand. This is in line with the agreement between the government parties and the Progress Party on a revised national budget for 2020.

Helge André Njåstad from FRP says the party in the budget negotiations will demand that municipalities be deprived of this opportunity.
– Municipalities that deviate from the guidelines of the parliamentary majority cheat. These are clear guidelines from the top team and are expected to be followed, he says.
A survey by the National Homeowners Association shows that reducing the maximum rate for residential and leisure properties from 7 to 5 per thousand in 2020 did not result in as large a cut in tax revenue as expected.

According to the Homeowners, several municipalities will take measures to increase the estimated value of homes next year. Therefore, municipalities expect to collect $ 7.8 billion in property tax revenue next year. That’s 200 million more than this year, despite the tax rate being lowered further.
