Promotion match and Haaland in «Der Klassiker» – VG

Erling Braut Haaland has never hidden where he comes from. The 20-year-old has had red Bryne blood over the years and has made it common for the Norwegian people to hear harsh expressions like “gravel” and “drizzle” on national television.

The words “One Life, One Club” are plastered on the bridge to Bryne Stadium, and on Saturday afternoon the super forward will likely follow the kids’ club promotion game against Sotra.

Assistant coach Even Sel worked closely with Haaland when he was a male player at Bryne. Among other things, they often sat together for a long time and watched a video to discuss how the latter might unfold. When VG talks to him, he gets excited.

– I feel like it’s a bit more today. I’m doing. But the feeling is good. We have good confidence in ourselves in the team. We have performed well throughout the year. The only game we’ve lost this year was against Vard, when they sent off a man in the first place. If we do what we did earlier this year, it will work out, says Sel before kick-off at 1pm.

Haaland money bets

In Jæren, there are many emotions at stake on Saturday. The club has had to call in additional security personnel to ensure that the 600 allowed spectators do not storm the field in the event of a promotion. They have to abide by the rules of the crown, but the euphoria will be there anyway if the necessary point is secured.

– Erling has contributed to the fact that it has been sold. First to Molde, then to Salzburg and Dortmund. The money that has come in has helped us maintain a good investment. Then there is the motivation to see what you are doing. He is an inspiration to everyone who works here at Bryne Football Club, says Sel.

In Sel’s description of the team’s strengths in 2020, one recalls the associations of Bryne’s major editions, which included names like Gabriel Høyland, Rangvald Soma and Alfie Haaland.

– We have a lot of power to run and duel strength. We have also been very good on the counterattack, says Sel, who has a lot of faith that promotion will be assured.

Jærbladet commentator Marcus Sikveland thinks so too.

– Bryne are big favorites. Sotra remains with five losses in a row. It’s a very small bomb if Sotra gets away with points here. It was 5-2 for Bryne and leading the last time the teams met, Sikveland tells VG.
