The Crown Commission has received all the messages between health leaders and the government these days, but SMK does not want the messages to be public, reports NRK.
Text messages can, among other things, show whether there was a disagreement between the National Institute of Public Health and the Norwegian Health Directorate before the shutdown.
Hidden from the public
Opposition health politicians react to the fact that SMK wants to keep communication hidden from the public.
– At a general level, the public should know how the government came to such intrusive decisions, says Ingvild Kjerkol, Labor Party health policy spokesperson.
Kjersti Toppe of the Center Party believes the reports can show who actually made the actual decision to shut down the country. She believes that the Storting should be told if it was a political decision and not a professional one.
– We must know if it was the health authorities that used the Infection Control Law or if it was a government decision. And the text messages could have given a better idea of that, Toppe tells NRK.
Erna Solberg’s Secretary of State Rune Alstadsæter informs NRK that SMK believes that the consideration that there should be a space for free advice and input internally within the office and between ministries and SMK should exceed consideration of the public.
