Prime Minister Erna Solberg had to leave the prime minister’s office today when one of the secretaries of state was diagnosed with a covid infection. Late tonight she received the test result and it showed that she is not infected.
On Tuesday, the prime minister had to take a crown test and be sent home to work until the test cleared.
The reason was that his close colleague, Secretary of State Audun Rødningsby (V) had tested positive for corona.
– The Secretary of State has had no close contacts in the office. The Prime Minister has no symptoms and has not been in close contact with Rødningsby. This afternoon, the Prime Minister received a notification in the app to stop the infection. We assume this is because the Prime Minister and Secretary of State phones have been side by side outside a meeting room, because at SMK we have several meetings without a phone. However, we cannot be completely sure that the alert in the app is due to the Rødningsby infection. That is why the Prime Minister conducted a crown test this afternoon, just in case. You will work from home until you receive a response to the test and therefore canceled a couple of deals on Wednesday, writes Secretary of State Rune Alstadsæter (H) in an SMS to VG.
Solberg emphasizes that he had no symptoms.
– We have reviewed who could be close contacts in the office. We operate from a distance of two meters and sit very far apart in meetings. So I think it should be done right, he told NTB.
No one was quarantined
Anne Kristin Hjukse, SMK’s communications manager, told VG that they did not know when Solberg will receive the test result. But already a few hours later, it was clear that he received the answer “Coronavirus not detected”.
– Are there others in SMK, for example in the public administration, who have been quarantined?
– No one at SMK has been quarantined due to the positive results of Rødningsby’s test, Hjukse tells VG.
He also says that Audun Rødningsby has no close contacts at SMK.
– Any other close contact is a relationship between him and the municipality of Oslo, says Hjukse.
