Liverpool are behind the city’s rivals at the top of the Premier League after a win against Sheffield United.

LIVERPOOL-SHEFFIELD UNITED 2-1

Liverpool fought back hard after Sander Berge sent Sheffield United in the lead in Saturday night’s game at Anfield. The home team got three points after goals from Roberto Firmino and Diego Jota.

Berge sent the guests in the lead from the penalty spot after referee Mike Dean took a free kick for the first time, before the VAR observed the situation and converted it into a penalty kick.

It was concluded that Fabinho dropped Ollie McBurnie at the penalty spot. Thus, it ended with a penalty to the guests.

The situation should be able to be said to be disputed as it was about a few inches if there should be a penalty or a free kick.

– Has luck

Berge was icy from the mark and sent Allisson the wrong way and the ball into the net. During the break, expert Erik Thorstvedt thought Berge had more luck than good who made the scorers list.

– Berge has only decided to send him in that corner and does not deviate from it. He’s lucky and Allisson is going the other way. It doesn’t send the doorman down the wrong path, he just decided, was Thorstvedt’s verdict.

Despite what the TV 2 pundit described as a lucky penalty goal, Berge impressed the guests in the first half.

– Berge and McBurnie are a handful for Liverpool’s defense so far this game, commentator Peder Mørtvedt said.

– We pressured them and created opportunities, but we were not clinical enough in the two boxes. We show that we can compete against everyone, Berge said in the post-match interview.

Sheffield United is holding by one point after the first six games and will face Manchester City and Chelsea in the next two.

Fought back

Liverpool fought back five minutes before the break. A well-placed corner kick from Sadio Mane was followed by a hard but accurate header from Aaron Ramsdale.

After a brief fight with the defender, Sam Baldock finally got the ball home.

Then it would hit Anfield. A Mane post against Diego Jota became so dangerous that the Portuguese turned the ball into a goal with his head.

Just before, Mohamed Salah had a goal disallowed.

Towards the end, Liverpool took control of the match and secured three new points at the top of the Premier League.
