The German playmaker tried to support his teammates on Twitter. It was poorly received by Piers Morgan, who sent several harsh messages.
LEEDS – ARSENAL 0-0:
Leeds were several points better than Arsenal in Sunday’s meeting between the two Premier League teams, but the London club scored one lucky point.
Despite several obvious shirt-pulling incidents, Bernd Leno landed a token. The guests created very little and thus ended 0-0 at Elland Road.
What Mikel Arteta’s men showed offensively was sometimes crowded.
– I can hardly remember seeing Arsenal so bad offensively since I started sitting in the studio here, says TV 2 expert Brede Hangeland.
Soccer commentator Per-Jarle Heggelund noticed the same.

– Arsenal is totally frozen facing the field. No goals in the series since early October. There are no goal finals here against Leeds. Too bad, he wrote on Twitter.
Openly discussed during a match
At the same time that Arsenal were disappointed on the pitch, an open feud developed between television personality Piers Morgan, who is a fan of Arsenal, and Mesüt Özil of the London club. The German was not on the squad who traveled to Leeds on Sunday, but tried to show his support for his teammates with a message on Twitter.
However, Piers was unimpressed by Özil’s efforts to support the team. In response to Özil’s “Let’s goooo” message, Morgan wrote this on Twitter:
– I hope you do, Mesut. For your sake and that of Arsenal.
He then followed up with this tirade against the midfielder.
– I admire your ability to “troll” Arsenal fans. Those who pay their weekly salary. You get £ 350,000 a week of our money for sitting on your butt and not doing shit. Try training as hard as working to be a smart jerk. So your manager can get you off the team, Morgan writes in a very harsh message.
It wasn’t long before the playmaker responded to the message to the television character.
– Piers, was it really you or was your phone hacked? wrote Özil.
Morgan’s response to this was as follows:
– This is the first tackle he has received this season, very good!
Leeds dominoes
Leeds were by far the best team in the first 45 minutes, but despite a series of spikes, the home side could not find the net.
The closest goal in the first half was probably Stuart Dallas, which was after 34 minutes. Jack Harrison stepped in and Patrick Bamford threw the ball to Stuart Dallas. He finished low, but the shot to the far corner went just outside.
Just before, Bamford had also had a good chance when the ball fell to his legs after Gabriel’s punt. The half volley shot was too weak.
Arsenal had very little to offer offensively. The star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who for the occasion came to play as a forward and not as a left back, came to disappear little in front of Leeds’ goal. Joe Willock, who was supposed to be the creative link between midfield and attack, didn’t get much in the first half either.

Thus, the London hosts were able to breathe a sigh of relief at the 0-0 break.
Pepe expelled
The second part was just over five minutes long when Nicolas Pepe was sent straight to the shower. The Arsenal striker came forward with his forehead and shoved it against Ezgian Alioski’s head. It didn’t appear to be particularly difficult, but Alioski fell theatrically to the ground and the VAR was compromised. Judge Anthony Tyalor himself came out to see the incident on the monitor and concluded that it was a red card for the Ivorian.
Although Alioski went slightly to the ground, it was a very unnecessary behavior from Pepe.

– An idiotic act. A completely nonsensical reaction from Pepe, said TV 2 commentator Nils Johan Semb about the situation.
Also in the second half, Leeds had the best chances and both Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford hit the posts towards the end of the match, but there was no goal. In extra time, Rodrigo hit the metal for the second time in the second half.
Thus, the incredible ebb of nom went 0-0 and Arsenal were lucky to get a point from the match. Arteta’s men now have 13 points after nine games, while Marcelo Bielsa and his Leeds have 11 points so far this season.
