Premier League, Chelsea | Chelsea opened the season with a win, but Kepa receives criticism after another weak game

Timo Werner impressed from time to time on top of Frank Lampard. At the other extreme, Kepa was scored with a new weak intervention against Brighton.

eBRIGHTON – CHELSEA 1-3:

The Spanish goalkeeper had a strong season last year, and Chelsea are said to have been on the hunt for goalkeepers all summer.

While the club is rumored to be getting closer and closer to Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, Kepa was back between the posts in the first game of the season.

The 25-year-old put up a decent fight for 54 minutes without being subjected to the big tests, but just before the hour played he had to capitulate.

A long-range shot from Leandro Trossard slipped into the corner and made it 1-1. The Belgian’s shot was good, but from long range and far from removable.

Still, he crawled to the longest corner of Kepa.

– Kepa’s goalkeeping game is again terrible. A mistake by the goalkeeper, declared TV 2 expert Nils Johan Semb after scoring.

However, Chelsea responded shortly after with a home run by Reece James, eventually winning 3-1 with several new signings on the field.

After the match, Lampard bragged about Werner, but also had to answer questions about Kepa after another weak participation.

– I loved how Timo Werner appeared in different areas. He has an appetite for goals and is ruthless, says Lampard, who claims to be satisfied with Kepa.

– I’m happy with Kepa. I saw confidence in him, he is here, he is our goalkeeper and I am happy with him.

Werner and Lamptey impressed

Because while Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell weren’t with Monday, Frank Lampard chose to start with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

While the latter was relatively anonymous at Amex Stadium, Werner really showed up especially before the break.

The former Leipzig player was a constant bum at the top for Chelsea, creating various dangers with his sheer speed.

The German was also involved when the London guests took the initiative.

A terrible pass from Steven Alzate was intercepted by Jorginho, who played Werner.

The striker ran for the goal before falling to the ground after being tackled by Brighton goalkeeper Matt Ryan.

Jorginho took responsibility from the penalty spot and, as always, was safe as the bench with his signature jump on approach.

Brighton, however, was fully involved in the notes throughout the match, with one 19-year-old especially impressed.

Because on the right back, Tariq Lamptey sometimes had a game room with Marcos Alonso. The youngster was at Chelsea until early this summer, when he decided to sign for Brighton rather than sign a new contract with Lampard’s team.

On Monday, from time to time he swept the right, mostly thanks to his enormous speed.

In the 49th minute, an error by the local left defense allowed Alonso and Havertz to go ahead, beating the local goalkeeper and adding another goal for the visitors.

However, only minutes later, the tie came when Lamptey found Trossard, who scored the tie after a weak intervention from Kepa.

Gigamiss and Zouma-score

The joy, however, lasted only about two minutes for Trossard and his teammates, because after 56 minutes, Reece James showed why he is Chelsea’s right-back.

The 20-year-old shoved the ball far down the field, before tapping and kicking the ball off the crossbar.

Brighton should have equalized soon after when a Trossard post found captain Lewis Dunk at the back post. The midfielder was completely unmarked, but managed to head the ball out from close range.

Gigamissen blew out the Brighton side, and in the 66th minute Chelsea increased the lead when a corner kick found Zouma. The Frenchman finished on the first touch, and the ball went through Adam Webster’s foot before entering the goal behind an outscored Ryan.
