Pornhub removes all unverified content

Pornhub has had a bad time after the New York Times published a more extensive report on December 4 titled: “The Children of Pornhub.”

In the report, the newspaper focuses on a number of issues worthy of criticism and writes that there are “many” videos on the pornography website showing the abuse of children.

Every year, about 6.8 million new videos are posted on Pornhub, and much of the content is not properly reviewed, writes the New York Times.

Delete 7 million videos

Shortly after the report was released, the porn site responded by announcing that it would no longer be possible for unverified users to upload videos and that downloading would be prohibited.

Now Vice writes that Pornhub is taking more steps, in an attempt to become “the strictest social media platform out there.”

– In the past, we have chosen to prohibit unverified users from uploading videos. We are also now suspending all content that has previously been uploaded by users who cannot be verified as safe partners or members of model shows, Pornhub writes in an ad on their website.

According to Vice, the site now removes around 7 million videos.

Visa and MasterCard break-up cooperation

In the past, Visa and MasterCard responded to the report by breaking their partnership with Pornhub and confirming that they would no longer approve payments to the site.

– Today, the use of our cards on Pornhub ends. Our investigation over the past few days has confirmed several violations of our standards prohibiting illegal content, meanwhile, is stated in a December 11 MasterCard statement.

Pornhub has described the decisions as “extremely disappointing”, noting that they have made changes following the New York Times report.
