Evans had worked for the police in the capital for 18 years.

– Please note Officer Evans and his family and their prayers, Police Chief Yogananda D. Pittman.

President Joe Biden had just left the White House for Camp David when the incident occurred.

Biden says it hurts to hear what happened.

– I want to express the nation’s gratitude to the capital’s police, the National Guard, the emergency services and others who reacted quickly after the attack. As we mourn the loss of another brave policeman, I have ordered the White House flag to be lowered to half mast, says Biden.

Police have not found any clear motive for the action, but say it does not appear to be related to terrorism. Police are still investigating the case.

There are no clear indications of the motive and the police do not know it, says the acting police chief, Yogananda Pittman.

A few weeks ago, Green reportedly shared on social media that he had lost his job and had health problems. It is said that he referred to biblical quotes about the end of time and claimed that it had been reviewed by the CIA and the FBI.

“The United States government is enemy number one of blacks,” he wrote.

Less than two hours before he was shot and killed, he is said to have shared several Instagram stories, including links to the leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan. A movement that promotes black nationalism and is anti-white and anti-Semitic.

So far there is no evidence that the incident was directed at members of Congress.

– This was obviously someone who attacked everything and everyone. We are responsible for investigating this and getting to the bottom of whether this was an attack on the police or others, says Police Chief Robert Contee.

The attack comes just under three months after the storm, in which Trump supporters attacked.

Five people died during the storm, including a police officer, and more than 300 people have been arrested since then, including members of extremist groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.

– This has been an extremely difficult time for the police after the events of January 6, and now this has happened here today, says Pittman.

Video posted online shows a dark sedan crashing into barricades and the car being investigated by police.

It is still tense in the area after the storm nearly three months ago. Some of the barriers were recently removed.

The high fences around the congress building were removed and the number of National Guard soldiers in the area was reduced.
