It was the neighbors who alerted the police about the party.

– They had been embarrassed about this party for several days. Neighbors described up to 150 youths present at the party, operations manager Vidar Pedersen in the Oslo police district tells NRK.

– There weren’t that many when we arrived, but there were enough, and we finished the party, he said Friday night.

Police were greeted by a 15-year-old party host. The boy’s parents were notified and arrived at the scene while the police were there.

Police say the youths at the scene were between 15 and 17 years old.

– Group hard to reach

The municipality of Bærum will now strengthen its efforts against young people when it comes to infection control.

– This is handled by the police. At the same time, we must continue our strong encouragement to all age groups to avoid large accumulations, the municipal chief doctor in Bærum, Frantz Leonard Nilsen, tells NRK on Saturday.

– We see that it is very difficult to reach certain groups of young people and now we will strengthen our efforts towards youth and young adults, says Nilsen.

Recommend a maximum of 20 people

The infection control councils of the Norwegian Health Directorate recommend that a maximum of 20 people meet in private meetings. According to the neighbors, there must have been many more at the house party in Bærum.

– It is worrying, given the current situation in society, that up to 150 young people gather at a party. It almost seems that one has not understood the seriousness of the situation in which we find ourselves, says Pedersen in the police.

Police were notified of the party shortly after 9 p.m. Friday night.

Alert to the child welfare service

On Saturday morning, the police declare that the case has been closed on their part.

– Police contact the child welfare service for a report of concern, operations manager Tor Gulbrandsen tells NRK.

The police moved due to disorderly conduct, but since this was resolved when they arrived, there is no basis for reporting any crime, the operations manager claims.

– This is first and foremost a house party that has gone wrong in terms of noise, the number of people present and the infection situation we are in, says Gulbrandsen.
