Police believe police officer was beaten on purpose – NRK Oslo and Viken – Local News, TV and Radio

Police believe the driver of a red Mercedes driving a police officer Wednesday afternoon did so on purpose.

– It is based on descriptions of witnesses and witness interrogations and not least in the video of the incident what we mean by this, says operations manager Terje Marstad in the eastern police district of NRK.

According to the police, it is not the owner who drove himself. They have contact with the owner of the car, but will not confirm to NRK whether it has been stolen or not.

Backed by the police

The incident occurred at a gas station near Vestby, and the police describe the incident as follows:

– The aggressor puts his car in reverse and backs up with great force. One policeman barely manages to jump, the other policeman fails to jump and is hit in the air by this car, says Marstad.

The police officer has been sent to Kalnes hospital in and the condition is described as satisfactory.

It was a patrol dedicated to the traffic service that stopped the car.

Encouraged to contact the police themselves

The police believe that it is best for the perpetrator to contact him himself.

– We encourage the man to report to the police before arresting him, says Marstad.

They won’t comment if they already know the man.

– We have no reason to believe that it is dangerous to others, says the operations manager about the perpetrator.

OUTSIDE OSLO: Vestby is not too far from Oslo. This is one of several main roads in Oslo.
