Fulham 1–2 Manchester United (1–1)

City’s rival Manchester City put pressure on Manchester United when they beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Wednesday. Thus, the celestial took its place at the top of the table. That place could get United back just two hours later.

Check out Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s interview with TV 2 at the top!

Solskjær’s men got off to a difficult start to the match but managed to counterattack after goals from Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba.

– I’ve already said many times that I love winning football matches. It’s about winning. I will always be happy when we win and today we do, so today I am happy. The day we lose, I’m not happy. That’s how I am, says Paul Pogba after the game.

Solskjær tells TV 2 that he is not afraid of Pogba disappearing from the club and how he has personally worked with the Frenchman lately.

– Paul is a Manchester United player and is now in great shape. We got him in shape and that was the clue. He struggled with injuries last year and became infected with the coronavirus. I have managed to convince him to run a little more and now he is in shape. That is often what is needed with such talents, Solskjær tells TV 2.

United now have 17 straight away games in the Premier League without losing. It’s a touch of the club record that United set in 1999. At the time, Solskjær was one of the players, now leading the club from the bench.

But Solskjær will not take credit for the good form in which United are now.

– The player must have the credit. They are the ones who do the work in the field. We can give it to him, says Kristiansunderen.

The victory also ensures that Manchester United have already gone 13 consecutive Premier League games without losing. But in London they got off to a rocky start.

Dream start for Fulham

Only five minutes had passed when Ademola Lookman suddenly found herself alone with David de Gea. The speedy winger fooled United’s defensive line and, alone with the goalkeeper, was frozen. When he got the ball into the goal, the entire United defense looked back at the assistant referee.

– They seem like question marks for the whole gang, exclaimed TV 2 commentator Kasper Wikestad.

The replay, however, showed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly slept at the time Harry Maguire was to set the offside line. Thus, the score was 1-0 for the local team even before the five minutes had been played.

– We have a bit slow start and we may need the goal they scored. The heads did not appear to be fully screwed down When you spend an entire day in a hotel, it can take time to get started. We looked for a pitch this morning to move around a bit early today, but we couldn’t find one, Solskjær told TV 2 after the game.

Five minutes later, United called for a penalty when Fred fell to the ground. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was clearly ahead of Fred, but Fulham fled in horror.

– I think it’s a penalty. It’s not an ugly offense, but Fred gets kicked in the foot. There would have been nothing to say about it if there was a penalty, says TV 2 soccer expert Simen Stamsø-Møller during the break.

Star players took responsibility

Then it crashed into the Fulham box again.

First, Bruno Fernandes jingled the ball off the post. Seconds later, the Portuguese released himself on the left wing and finished the ball in front of the goal. Alphonse Aréola spoiled it and Edinson Cavani got an easy draw.

– Fernandes makes things happen all the time. He’s been doing this since he joined the club, says Trevor Morley, a TV 2 Premier League expert, during the break.

– Edinson is an incredibly brave and experienced striker. He should have gotten the ball more today, says Ole Gunnar Solskjær after the game.

25 minutes before the end, Paul Pogba also decided to take responsibility. The Frenchman entered and sent a projectile to Areola.

– Paul Pogba chooses to take out a cannon with his left foot, exclaimed TV 2 soccer expert Petter Myhre.

The ball bounced off the far corner and United led the game for the first time.

– I hit good. I did not expect the shot to be as good, as it was with the left foot. But you have to try to make it happen, says Pogba after the game.

Fulham closed equalizer

Ten minutes later, Chelsea loan officer Ruben Loftus-Cheek had a gigantic chance to equalize, but David de Gea kept up with a feverish stoppage.

A short time later, Loftus-Cheek had another great opportunity, but the 24-year-old shot well above the goal.

– It’s a terrible ending. He’s had two great chances now, Wikestad yelled.

The Premier League approved dam tests in case of concussion

Three minutes after extra time, Aleksandar Mitrovic had a good chance, but the Serbian’s header slipped inches from United’s goal.

There were no more goals in the match. Thus, Manchester United recovers the top of the table that Manchester City borrowed for a couple of hours.

Desperate Klopp: – Nobody talks about it
