In the last week, a lot of attention has been paid to the repackaging of bandages after Idar Vollvik was arrested, suspected of having packed and marked the bandage. The Norwegian Medicines Agency believes that pharmacies have broken the rules by repackaging the bandages.

– I just sent a message to the pharmacies, Jostein Soldal, communications manager of the Pharmacy Association to E24.

The report claims that the pharmaceutical industry has agreed to stop repackaging as of now as the delivery situation is better and manufacturers ship more packages with fewer bandages.

Pharmacies have previously repackaged face masks from larger boxes and sold in smaller packages. According to various pieces of advice E24 has received from readers, pharmacies have sold face masks in brown paper bags and unlabeled plastic bags.

– Has it nothing to do with the Idar Vollvik case?

– No, but it has to do with the fact that we have been in dialogue with the Norwegian Medicines Agency, and they have specified that this is not the way to do it, at least while the market is covered, says Soldal.

In addition, it says that they do not expect sanctions and that they have complied with the interpretation of the rules of the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

Suspected rapes

Tove Jahr, head of unit of the Norwegian Medicines Agency, explains that the background of the decision is that the repackaging of medical bandages has been pointed out, which only complies with the regulations when there is an agreement with the manufacturers.

– Have the pharmacies broken the rules so far?

– Pharmacies have repackaged from 50 packs with masks and sold in a smaller format, if they do not have an agreement with the manufacturer, the situation is not entirely in line with the regulations.

– As far as you know, do you think there is a breach of the regulations?

– Yes, we think so. The Pharmacy Association has now confirmed that they will stop repackaging and we are happy about that.

Jahr points out that pharmacies have experience with theft, and the main difference is that pharmacies have repackaged, while Idar Vollvik is suspected of noticing.

She emphasizes that there is a big difference between the case against Vollvik and what the pharmacies have done. The Norwegian Medicines Agency believes that pharmacies, for their part, have repackaged the bandages in smaller packages.

Vollvik, on the other hand, is suspected of repackaging non-medical sanitary pads and sold them as medical ones.

Idar Vollvik: – A mistake we must learn from

– “All” packages on bandages

On Friday, Idar Vollvik told E24 that he admitted to wrapping a bandage, but still denies his criminal guilt. The reason for this, he explains, is that “everyone” packs a bandage.

– That is, repacking a bandage is not a crime. Pharmacies, chains and everyone does it. There is nothing wrong in it. This is the brand where we have failed.

He goes on to say that they come in boxes of 2000 and are repackaged in smaller packages. He points out that it is the marking of the bandages where he and his company have made a mistake.

– We think we have been one of the best there, he said.

The statement prompted the manager of the Farmasiet online pharmacy, Hans Kristian Furuseth, to react.

– We don’t do that in Pharmacy, he said.

– We have never opened packages with face masks and we resell them to our customers. Our suppliers would not do this either.
