Much has been written about Petter Northug (34) in the past six months after police pulled him over in August for reckless driving. Cocaine was later found in the 34-year-old’s home, and at a press conference he stood up and admitted that he has a serious drug problem.

Earlier this week, Northug spoke about the past few months in video form on his Facebook page. There he said, among other things, that he is now trying to put this lifestyle and period of life behind him.

The next day, he shared a story on social media announcing that he came up with a Christmas song called “Petter’s Christmas.”
There were mixed reactions in the comment fields. Several applauded the news, while others questioned if it was just a joke or if it really should be carried out.
On Sunday, however, he released the song on Spotify along with a music video on his Facebook page. Northug thus proved that a Christmas song came as promised.

Se og Hør is told by Northug that he wrote a little song every Sunday in Advent last year, and that it was a hit.
– So now I wanted to go one step further by making a Christmas song with a very personal text about how my life has been in recent years, he continues.

Northug also sings that he stumbles in life, but gets back up.

Per Magne Dalen in the Northug team describes this as a fun little project between four friends from Trøndelag.
– Henki Ofstad recorded the melody 35 years ago, but it has never been used. Martin Kleveland produced the music, Petter Northug wrote the lyrics, and Per Magne Dalen made the music video. And Kleveland and Dalen run in the background along with Caroline Hitland, he says.
– We are a very small team that is connected in our free time, it also became music. Petter wants to light up the Advent season in these crown times and hopes that people will like the song.
