According to Budstikka, the queue ran from the entrance to the basement of a parking lot.

– Why don’t I go jogging too? Because it is not the same as exercising in a gym. For me, at least it is not an alternative, says a 16-year-old from Oslo.

None of the employees at the Bekkestua gym wanted to comment on what measures they will use due to high demand on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, regional manager Niklas Ursin had the following to say:

– We’ve had four million visitors and no member-to-member infection has been detected.

Asker and Bærum are the exceptions

While other larger municipalities around Oslo have decided to follow the measures of the capital’s crown, both Asker and Bærum chose a somewhat different line. The measures in the two municipalities are considered strict, but do not include, among other things, closed gyms and bar stops.

– We have taken the measures in Oslo as our starting point, while at the same time, in accordance with the guidelines of the government and the health authorities, we will base our situation on local infection. This means that the Bærum measurements in some areas differ somewhat from those of Oslo. There has been a close and good dialogue with other municipalities in the capital region, Mayor Lisbeth Hammer Krog (H) said in a press release on Monday.

At a press conference on Monday, Health Minister Bent Høie (H) made it very clear that Oslo residents should not go to Bærum to exercise and drink beer.

– Not okay, answered NTB’s questions.

Ask the people of Oslo to follow the rule

In front of VG, press contact Malin Selander reports on Sats about “no noticeable increase”, but that if it does happen, they are prepared, among other things, through distance requirements and additional infection guards.

However, it has an appeal for people in Oslo who are considering using the gyms in the neighboring municipality.

– Membership of members governs where they have access. The municipality of Oslo, on the other hand, has given a clear message to stay home, so we encourage you to follow that rule, he says.

Residential address cannot be verified

The municipality of Bærum is planning a higher capacity inspection of both gyms and restaurants, says municipal director Bente Rudrud Herdlevær.

– We will see if they comply with current infection control rules, such as the use of masks and distance, he tells NTB.

She emphasizes that it is positive in itself that people want to exercise and be active, and that queues can be an expression of the fact that gyms handle the situation as they should.

– And the municipalities cannot verify the residential address, he adds.

The staff takes care

The director of industry at Virke Trening, Kjersti Oppen, says their membership hasn’t seen a huge increase compared to earlier this fall.

– We have implemented additional measures in advance, to be able to handle this well, write in a comment to NTB.

Among other things, it includes apps that alert customers when there is good capacity, extended opening hours to distribute traffic, and additional staff at receptions to make sure everyone wears a mask and washes their hands with alcohol, and that members keep your distance if there is a queue. .

For Budstikka, health director Bjørn Guldvog has previously stated that the government will evaluate the measures in Asker and Bærum later.
