– I stood outside and heard people screaming. When unconscious people were taken away, I realized the seriousness. One party participant says that he participated in the bunker party when NRK met the person this afternoon.

Police came across several deranged youths after an illegal party in a bunker in St. Hanshaugen on Sunday night.

Inside the bunker, the police found seven people unconscious. Evacuation began and more than 20 people were sent to hospital. Several of them were seriously injured.

Thought unconscious people had been drinking too much

The party participant says that some of the unconscious people were found in the same room as the units. The organizers had closed the room before the party, but some had broken the door.

– At first we thought they might have overdosed or drank too much. But gradually more and more people lose consciousness. So we understand that it must be something else, says the party participant.

The person in question says that other party participants began to monitor the pulse of those who were unconscious.

– People start to check the heart rate of those who lie there and some bleed. At one point, I think several of them are dead, and then we realized that this is serious, says the participant of the match.

Closed nightclubs brought more participants to the bunker party.

The government’s decision to close all nightclubs at midnight has led to more people opting to party in the bunker. That’s what nightlife founder Runar Skjerven Eggesvik says.

– The cave party would have been there anyway, but maybe not as many if the nightclubs had been open. But it is not just a party that we are talking about in Oslo in particular. If you open the window after midnight, you will hear a party, says Eggesvik.

Oslo City Councilor Raymond Johansen also believes that nightclubs should extend their opening hours.

– What we see now is that the understanding is lower and the shoulders are low. We also see many more house parties where the risk of infection is higher. So I think it is more prudent to extend the opening hours of nightclubs, says Johansen.

The Minister of Health and Sanitation Services, Bent Høie, believes that these measures were necessary in early August.

– In the last week before the entry into force of the measures, we had two areas in Norway with a sharp increase in the number of infected. And it was at private events and at the disco. So we had to slow down to stay in control, says Høie.

He regrets having participated

The party participant says the party was planned for a long time and was quiet at first with few people. But after the city closed at midnight, more people came who weren’t invited.

– So many people who came to the cave had not been invited by the organizers, and those of us who were invited did not know that so many were coming.

Have you thought about why you chose to enter the cave afterwards?

– I have thought about it a lot, but there is no good answer. You can never justify the party in hindsight. We just have to learn from it. For most people, this will be forgotten in a few weeks, but for us it will follow us for the rest of our lives.

Do you regret having entered the cave?

– Of course yes. It was beyond my health and that of other people, says the party participant.

He was even poisoned with carbon monoxide

The party participant was poisoned with carbon monoxide and was hospitalized along with several others from the same party.

– I was always in my room with two others, but you quickly realize the magnitude of the damage when new people arrive who are in the same situation as you.

The party participant must have had chest pain, nausea, and dizziness.

– I was very lucky in relation to those who are still hospitalized. Everyone who was discharged early was very lucky, although you may have some problems later.

The participant of the party understands that many are critical of the organization of the party, but says that none of the participants understood how dangerous it was going to be. And that there are still people who are hospitalized.

– People should think twice before writing something on the Internet. It is important to remember that there are some in the hospital who may not recover, and their relatives who have nothing to do with this, look at what is being written.

23 people were hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning after a party in a bunker in Oslo on Sunday night.
