It was Smaalenenes Avis who mentioned the case for the first time.

According to him, the gym has not moved outdoors, but has been expanded after the closure with equipment that they had in stock.

– I am very sad about the whole situation and I have tried several times to suggest to the municipality that there are solutions, but they do not listen to me, he says and thinks that the regulations are not clear:

– I can accept that I have to close, but then they have to give me an explanation of why, he says.

Prioritize violations of infection control regulations

Police blocked the barrier training devices and pulled the locking pins out of the devices, says customer in the Eastern Police District, Jo Rennemo Jellum.

– The municipality notified us that there was outdoor training, which according to the municipality was not allowed according to the regulations of the crown they have. So we were there and stopped the outdoor training, he says.

Jellum says that violations of the Infection Control Act are something that the police prioritize.

– There are different regulations in the different municipalities, so we work closely together and try to prioritize the breaches that are notified to us.

– In violation of the rules

Indre Østfold Municipality Communications Chief Mimi Kopperud says the gym was ordered to shut down the outdoor activity.

– There has been a lot of dialogue in this case. The message is that gyms are closed in Viken according to covid-19 regulations and then you can’t just move the activity outdoors.

Kopperud says that she is absolutely certain that this was done in the best sense to offer people physical activity and not violate regulations.

– But now we will do everything possible to reduce mobility, people should move as little as possible and be as sociable as possible, and this is a training activity that should be closed on an equal footing with other gyms.

Exercise machines in parks are something that is open to everyone, but will be considered if there are large concentrations of people, Kopperud says.

– If we see large concentrations of people there, we must take some action. But there are parks that have already been established and are open to the public.
