Several employees of the main terminal in Oslo have been quarantined after several cases of infection. It can create problems and delays in mail deliveries.
14 of the 240 employees at Alfaset’s cargo terminal in Oslo are infected, according to a company press release.
None of those infected are drivers or have jobs where they are in contact with customers.
– Due to the extra infection control measures and the fact that some are in quarantine, changes and delays in some deliveries may occur. We deeply regret this and ask for your understanding in this situation, says PostNord Norway CEO Robin Olsen in the report.
It was TV2 who reported the case in the first place.

– It can be updated during the weekend
According to Postnord, the Alfaset terminal can sort up to 190,000 packages a day. Trucks arrive, packages are sorted and shipped throughout Norway.
– We have been very concerned, but it seems that we can be up to date during the weekend, says communications manager Ole A. Hagen at Postnord to VG.
– We thought we might have to close the entire deal, and it could lead to significant delays if we were to close completely.
Hagen says Postnord has been very concerned about infection control since mid-February.
They have also hired 4-500 people to handle the enormous growth of e-commerce under the crown, he says.

70-80 people in quarantine
Postnord claims that eight employees at the Alfaset terminal tested positive at other test stations in the period from December 4-17.
A quick test was then carried out at the terminal. 240 out of 300 employees have already been tested.
– Of the first 240 that have been analyzed, 14 have tested positive. No one had symptoms, Hagen says.
– We plan to test the employees at the Langhus and Lørenskog terminals, and will carry out the tests on Monday and Tuesday, he says.
Hagen says that between 70 and 80 people have been quarantined and will eventually return.
– All have been tested with rapid tests and the tests started yesterday. They will take the second round of testing on Monday, as rapid tests need to be done in two rounds to be as safe as a regular test, he says.

Will introduce court orders
Postnord claims that the company collaborates with the Health Service and the district chief physician in Alna district to track infections and map close and infected contacts.
Hagen says the following about the infection situation that has arisen:
– It’s hard to say if we could have done something differently, but I don’t know of other companies that have tested all of their employees.
– It turns out that even stricter measures are needed, he says.
According to Hagen, Postnord will introduce a mandate for face masks at the Alfaset terminal in Oslo and will have security guards to ensure that the measures are followed.
– This applies to the Oslo terminal, and will also apply to Langhus and Lørenskog, he says.
