Oslo is considering tough new measures from the crown

NTB is aware that the city council administration in Oslo met on Saturday afternoon to assess the situation.

This comes after the Norwegian Health Directorate sent a note to the City Council on Friday with a recommendation on the measures that the City of Oslo should introduce to reduce the spread of the infection in the capital.

It was not decided to introduce new measures already on Saturday. Instead, the City Council will try to act to reinforce compliance with the measures that have already been introduced.

But if the infection continues to spread, the municipality has several possible austerity measures on the block.

Considering stricter measures

The City Council announced already on Friday that an order for masks could be placed on public transport.

It is justified on the grounds that people do not follow the strong call for the voluntary use of bandages in public transport when it is difficult to maintain a distance of one meter.

Oslo has also announced that the maximum number of participants in indoor events can be reduced from 200 to 50 people, and that restaurants may be required to register guests.

These are the measurements

But as far as NTB knows, the city council is also considering three more measures that can be introduced if the infection does not subside:

• Private gatherings of more than five people can be prohibited. This will not apply to people living in the same household. Today, private gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited in Oslo.
• Admission to nightclubs can be stopped at 10pm.
• Bans may be introduced at high school and college events that are not related to teaching.

The infection flattens

It is not a fact that the measurements are any of. The last alternative in particular, the banning of the event for students, is considered less relevant for the moment, as high infection rates among Oslo students have not been proven.

Nor should there be much encouragement in the town hall to liven up the nightlife.

At the same time, statistics indicate that the spread of the infection may now be slowing down in the capital.

Statistics from the National Institute of Public Health show on Saturday that 272 new cases of infection have been detected in Oslo since last Friday. By comparison, the number of infections rose from 207 to 310 at week 38.

On Friday, 52 new cases of contagion were registered, a slight decrease compared to the previous day.
