– Step 3 was postponed and will not be implemented on June 1, confirms Kyrre Gran of the Oslo Package Secretariat on the website of the Norwegian Public Highway Administration, Motor.

It was expected that on June 1 there would be an increase in rates for electric cars and exemptions for light electric trucks.

The reason for the delay is that negotiations between the Oslo Municipality, Viken County Municipality and the state have not been finalized, and that politicians must also adopt the sharp increase in tariffs, the website writes.

Cecilie Lyngby, who is a representative of the city council for the No More Tolls People’s Action (FNB) in Oslo, is positive about the postponement. She believes the increase should be permanently removed because it removes a major incentive to switch from a fossil car to an electric car.

Those who took the cost of switching to an electric car and had that carrot will lose that benefit. So the National Transportation Plan works against its purpose, she says.
