“Shocking, misleading and absurd.” The positive adjectives have largely shone with their absence in mentioning Michael Moore’s new project.
Moore is known for such films as “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine,” for which he won the Oscar in 2003.
In this movie, he is a producer, while Jeff Gibbs is the director and he is in front of the camera. Still, he’s the best-known Moore that appears when the movie is mentioned.
Moore belongs to the left in American politics, so it was a surprise to many that it is the climate battle that is being resolved in the documentary “The planet of humans”.
The movie doesn’t go to the movies, but was released on YouTube on Earth Day on April 22. In the documentary, he and Gibbs make a strong agreement with parts of the environmental movement.
Former Vice President Al Gore is also criticized in the documentary.

– An obvious offense
In the laundry note, the film is described as a “frontal attack on our sacred cows,” which in this context is technology like electric cars and solar energy. The film argues that both are unreliable solutions and that fossil fuel is needed to make them work, The Guardian writes.
Documentalist Josh Fox responds to the content of the film.
Fox, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary for “Gasland,” has written a petition protesting the film’s content while demanding an apology.
Fox is also accusing filmmakers of making false claims about renewable energy.
He says the film is full of half truths and lies and has demanded that the film not be shown. Climatologist Michael Mann is one of several who have signed the petition.
– It was very difficult for me to write this letter, since Michael Moore has always been a hero to me, says Fox.

The documentary had something of a premiere during Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival last summer, and Moore stated that this may be the most important film they have seen in the festival’s 15-year history.

Despite the criticism: The Guardian film critic at least likes the film and gives it four out of five stars, while the NRK Film Police is more lukewarm and gives it a trio of six possible in the bucket .
“It is a shame that the film appears as an amateur project, photographed with smartphones and edited in iMovie,” said commentator Birger Vestmo.
