Open to Polish participation

Earlier today it was decided that the seven jumpers from Poland will not be allowed to participate in the first race at Hoppuka. The reason was the positive coronal test of Klemens Muranka (26).

Teammates were defined as close contacts. But tonight, the second corona test turned out to be negative.

Also the other Polish mares tested negative for the second time.

This allows for Polish participation in Oberstdorf anyway, although none of the jumpers participated in today’s heats.

A team leaders meeting just ended. The Poles will be able to participate in the first race of the jumping week if the crown tests on Tuesday are also negative.

– Tomorrow there are two possibilities, says sports director Clas Brede Bråthen to Dagbladet.

– If Poland gets a new positive test, everything will go as it is now, without your participation. If the third test turns out to be negative for everyone, the German health authorities will allow Poland to enter the tournament. Then there will be 62 starters and no knockout system in Oberstdorf.

– When will the answer to the third test arrive?

– At approximately 10.00 in the morning. Then it is the term for which the solutions will be chosen.

– Are you satisfied with the solution?

– Very satisfied, Bråthen replies.

– I think we should have great respect for the German health authorities, which gives us the opportunity to compete. The same goes for Oberstdorf, who takes responsibility for organizing this here, and FIS, which tries to make this happen. And of course for Poland as a jumping nation: we just have to have enormous respect for everyone who tries to keep our sport alive.

The sporting director continues:

– I am very, very happy that we find solutions. If it turns out to be a false positive test, then there are only winners. We are going to pray to the higher powers tonight. Everyone has something to gain if the test (for Muranka) is negative.

No Pole participated in the Oberstdorf qualifier tonight, which was won by Austrian Philipp Aschenwald and with Halvor Egner Granerud in second place.

But now the case may take a dramatic turn.

In Poland, tonight there is jubilation. Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki are two of Granerud’s main rivals in the recap.

The case is being updated!
