Rapid clay has turned much of the soil in the landslide area at Gjerdrum into a runny soup. On Sunday, only the top inches of the fast clay in the hole hardened, according to NVE.
This means that much of the pit remains too unstable for crews to enter in search of missing persons.
– Such a large avalanche pit consists of many types of masses. Some masses are firmer than fast clay, which we have problems with, says Toril Hofshagen at NVE during the press conference around 12:45.
The avalanche pit is estimated to be around 300 times 700 meters.
– Where there is fast clay in the hole, found in large areas, the thickness of the top layer that seems stiffer is only a couple of cm, she says.
Therefore, there is no greater stability in these areas, and rescue work should be based on that with a view to the safety of the crews, says Hofshagen.
There have also been a few more projectiles in the last 24 hours.

Six people died
Just before 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, a person who had been confirmed dead was discovered. This is the fifth person found dead in the landslide area at Gjerdrum.
– We conducted an overnight search, based on the POIs we had of a dog last night, says Fire Service Operations Manager Kenneth Wangen during a press conference at 0900 on Sunday.
During the day, more finds of one dead have been made, police said at a press conference around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The police work with identification and then notification to relatives. One of the dead has been confirmed to be among 10 missing after the rapid clay landslide.
One of the dogs that assisted in the search was injured around 10:00 a.m. today. There is talk of cut injuries and the dog has been sent to the vet. Police still have enough dogs to assist the USAR team in the search, they say.

- Has anyone died? Six people have been confirmed dead.
- How many are missing It has been confirmed that one of the six dead is among the ten missing. Police work to identify the dead and then notify family members. The police still hope to find people alive.
During the press conference earlier today, Wangen stated that the search will be expanded with two teams further north in the area of landslides.
– Now we are expanding into two sectors. One sector is a little further north of the area, but the pressure continues with the same weight in the same place, with three teams. Then we have two other teams that are to the north in another interesting place, where a dog has made marks, says Wangen.
During the night, the Civil Defense has drawn water from a dam that spills water in the area where the search is carried out.
– It will make it drier and safer for us there, says Wangen.
