On Tuesday, the Bergen municipality introduced new measures after an infection broke out in the past two weeks. Never before have more people been infected with the coronavirus in Bergen than now.

These are the new measures:

  • The number of people in private collections is reduced from the current maximum number of 20 to 10.
  • Public events in Bergen have a maximum number of 50.
  • Public nightclubs, restaurants, and bars will need to list visitors.
  • The City Council today issued a recommendation on the use of masks in public transport, where the subway rule cannot be followed.
  • All Bergen townspeople who can have a home office must have a home office. Other public institutions and the business community are encouraged to do the same.

Today, Councilor Roger Valhammer and Medical Director Trond Egil Hansen posed at an online meeting on NRK.no to answer people’s questions.

These are some of the things that people were wondering. See the answers in the chat below.

“Is there a good chance that kindergartens and schools will close again?”

“We have booked a trip next weekend to Bergen from Oslo. Should it be canceled? »

“How good an overview, as of today, does the Municipality of Bergen have on the transmission routes to the newly proven cases?”

“Can you go to the cabin this weekend?” It is not in the Bergen municipality. “

The strictest measures in the country

The infection, which can be traced back to the student community, has spread even further to society recently. This is the reason why the municipality has taken measures and introduced new and strict measures that will be applied for ten days.

Since the sponsor weeks began in mid-August, at least 363 people have been infected with the coronavirus. More than 200 students have been infected since the start of the semester.

– We believe this is necessary and we are asking everyone to join us for a 10-day charity event, Councilor Roger Valhammer said during yesterday’s press conference.

Great demand in emergencies

The emergency room in Bergen is now seeing high demand after the city council implemented strict corona measures yesterday.

According to emergency room manager Dagrun Linchausen, the response time on the corona phone has increased since Monday.

– We have had higher phone demand and longer response times. So they recommend that people come to the walk-in venue in Laksevåg or book an appointment on the Bergen municipality website, Linchausen says.

To date, more than 250 people have been tested for the virus.

Municipalities warn against trips to Bergen

Six municipalities are now warning residents to travel to Bergen for fear of spreading the infection.

As early as Tuesday evening, both Vaksdal and Osterøy Municipality came out and recommended that residents leave the city tour for the next ten days.

On Wednesday, Askøy, Bjørnafjorden and Stord also urged their residents to avoid trips to Bergen that are not absolutely necessary. At the same time, the two neighboring municipalities introduced the same measures as Bergen.

Sunnfjord Township also warns against traveling to the city among the seven mountains.

Øystein Furnes, the municipal chief doctor, will not run the risk of coronary heart disease spreading in the most populated region of Sogn og Fjordane.

– We must avoid trips to and from Bergen that are not absolutely necessary.

The director of the Norwegian Health Directorate, Bjørn Guldvog, also told NRK yesterday that they should now have good reasons to travel to Bergen.
