At seven o’clock, Inland police were notified that there was a large fire in a commercial building in downtown Moelv.
There was a great danger of it spreading and firefighters worked for a long time to control the fire.
At 1:00 pm, Operations Manager Sidsel Svarstad confirms to TV 2 that a dead person has been found inside the fire site. The person is not identified.
There is a strong development of smoke on the site and the police ask people to keep doors and windows closed.
One person died
A few hours after the fire broke out, police were informed that one person had disappeared after the fire.
– There has been information that work has been done on the roof of the building earlier today. The person who carried out this work has not been accounted for, says Jane Brendhagen, operations manager at the Inland Police District.
The person’s car is left outside the building and the police have not been in contact with the person.
Smoke divers later found a person inside the building. The person has not been identified and police cannot yet confirm that the missing person has been found.
The relatives of the disappeared person have been notified and cared for by the municipality’s crisis team.
Great values
The building has been used as a warehouse and there will be a lot of cars and boats inside.
– There are great values at stake. We are talking about boats, caravans, motorhomes and vintage cars, says COO Torgeir Dybvig at Hedmarken Branvesen to Hamar Arbeiderblad.
The fire brigade has removed several boats and vehicles from the building.
In shock
Klaus Bratlie owns 50 percent of the building and tells TV 2 that it is a surreal situation. The missing person is a close friend of Bratlie’s.
– We don’t know anything at the moment. It is a strong discomfort. Fire is unpleasant, but this is very good, he says.
Bratlie says that all the boats and cars have been rescued, thanks to the efforts of employees and emergency services.
– Good for everyone who has something in the building. But right now we are in shock at the situation, he says.
The case is being updated.
KL 1000: It is reported that work has been done on the roof of the building earlier today. The person in question has not been accounted for. Brann is working to prevent the spread to the entire building. At this time there is a lot of smoke and people are asked to keep windows / doors closed.
