At 03.59 pm on Wednesday 30.12, the police received the first report of the landslide.

The landslide was south of central Ask, on the left side of National Highway 120. The landslide area is estimated to be around 300 meters wide and 700 meters long.

A total of nine buildings with a total of 31 homes were taken over by the landslide, in addition to six garage houses with five parking spaces each.

The cause of the landslide has yet to be determined.

There is a lot of fast clay in the area and it is basically solid. If the clay is overloaded, the structure can collapse and the clay particles float in the released water. The result will be a rapid clay landslide, ”the Norwegian Directorate for Water Resources and Energy (NVE) previously noted.
