It is Aslaug Skålevik Valved from the Meteorological Institute who arrives with the surprising message.

A lot of rain was reported in the lowlands on Sunday, but the rain is now expected to turn to snow in the late afternoon.

– The temperature in the lowlands will drop from five to six degrees more to perhaps minus two degrees in a few hours, says Valved.

It is strong low pressure south of Svalbard that is to blame. The icy air from the north is directed south.

– We are not done with winter yet, says Valved.

5 to 15 centimeters

The amount of snow that will come is uncertain.

– The construction time has been reported and it is not so easy to estimate the amount. But there can be 5 to 15 centimeters of snow from Sunday night to Monday night.

On Sunday, many have planned to return home after the Easter break. The meteorologist warns of difficult driving conditions and possibly snowdrifts.

– People must follow the weather forecasts. Don’t use summer tires, and keep in mind that the excavators may not have had time to travel, he says.

Gale, thunder and waves

In addition to snow to the rocks of the pier in Bergen, northwestern gales and thunderstorms have been reported on Sunday.

It is also reported that there will be high waves on Sunday, and especially Monday.

– Those who have spent Easter turning off the boat, must tie it up well. Don’t plan to go out in a small boat starting Sunday, Valved says.

Uncertain with next week

It is still too early to say if the snow will fall next week. Forecasts vary between snow and rain in Bergen.

In the altitude, however, there will be a recharge of snow.

– Not at all unusual with snow in April, says Valved.

On April 3, 2020, 3 scm of snow was measured in Bergen, according to Yr.
