Omar Elabdellaoui injured by fireworks: – Not in danger of death – VG

The right-back, who plays for the great Turkish club Galatasaray, is said to have been taken to hospital after fireworks were detonated in his hand. The accident is one of the main propagations in most of the Turkish media. Cumhuriyet was one of the first to report it.

The main newspaper Hürriyet also writes about the accident. According to the newspaper, Elabdellaoui suffered injuries to his hand and face, and doctors fear losing his vision. Efforts are being made to minimize this.

Burns

The club notified one statement about the incident. “He’s not in danger of death,” it rang.

– Omar Elabdellaoui was taken to hospital after an accident at his home. He has burns to his face and an eye injury that is being further investigated. More information will be provided in due course, but our player is conscious and the injuries are not life threatening, he says.

According to Hürriyet, Galatasaray Vice President Abdurrahim Albayrak, Coach Fatih Terim and Captain Arda Turan are all at Elabdellaoui hospital.

Hard fall

It has not been an easy autumn for Elabdellaoui after the Greek Olympiakos signing. In November, it was his positive corona test that led to the entire squad of the national team being quarantined, so the Norwegian national league match against Romania was canceled and an “emergency national team” had to stack up for the decisive match against Austria.

The 29-year-old from Oslo developed at the Manchester City academy. After hiring at Strømsgodset, Feyenoord and Eintracht Braunschweig, he played one season for the German club and six for Olympiakos before becoming a player for Galatasaray last summer.
