Manchester United’s powerful manager talks about the club’s Norwegian manager and the funds that have been spent on new players in recent years.
Although Manchester United manager Ed Woodward is often mentioned in the media, it is not often that the powerful soccer leader speaks publicly about the club’s management.
However, there are some exceptions and Woodward, among other things, has made it a habit to speak to fan representatives in a so-called “forum meeting.” This fall this meeting was held through Zoom due to the current Covid-19 situation.

The meeting took place on November 20, but the local Manchester Evening News can now reveal what the powerful Manchester United manager told fans at the meeting.
– Used more than anyone
Among other things, it is clear that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær will be supported in the transfer market, but that new players will be bought mainly in the summer.
– In April I said in this forum that it was a priority for us to strengthen the team, although we had to be disciplined with the use of money due to the pandemic. I feel like we delivered the merchandise with the players that were brought to the summer window. We have spent over £ 200 million since the summer of 2019, more than any other major club in Europe during the same period, says Woodward.
United brought Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and several exciting young men into the summer window. In the window last January, the success of Bruno Fernandes also reached the club, but in the next window there will probably be no big buys.

– We will continue to support Ole with well-planned and long-term investments. Our focus will be on the summer window, says the principal.

The Old Trafford club have had a different season so far and there is regular speculation that management is toying with the idea of replacing Solskjær as coach.
Mauricio Pochettino is often associated with work. However, Woodward is aware that the Norwegian manager still has administrative support in his work.
– What happens on the field is our number one priority and while it is not the same without the fans in the stands, we have had a number of highlights since we last saw each other in April. We were 14 games unbeaten and finished third in the league last season and have had very good results against both PSG and RB Leipzig this fall, says Woodward.

– But we realize that more work is still required to be more stable and win trophies. However, we always see positive things both in battle and on training ground and this strengthens our belief that there is progress under Ole’s leadership, says the director.

Solskjær and his United lost at home to PSG in the Champions League this week and are therefore in danger of exiting the group stage with one match left. United, PSG and United remain with nine points. Solskjær’s men face Leipzig away in the last match.
In the Premier League, United are currently in ninth place with their 16 points from nine games. There are still five points left for Tottenham at the top.
United play West Ham away from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
