The case is being updated.

REAL BETIS – REAL MADRID 2–3

Martin Ødegaard was far from his prime and was replaced at half-time when Real Madrid lost to Betis. The teammates returned to victory 3-2.

– He is very “safe” in his elections, he does a lot of good, but he lacks a bit in the crucial passes. He missed him looking for more solutions in the future, TV 2 expert Erik Huseklepp said after the game.

His colleague Brede Hangeland thought the Norwegian was playing an “approved match”.

– It was a very nice deal on the ball. You need to work more on the physical. Speed, toughness and strength. For the technical is good, was the verdict of the expert from TV 2.

Turned the fight around

Betis turned the game around after an initial setback and took a 2-1 lead after two situations in which Ødegaard was the player closest to the passer and the scorer, respectively.

The Norwegian started in the role of the tier while Luka Modric sat on the bench, but failed to leave a mark on the match offensively as when he is in his prime.

After the break, most things went wrong for Betis. Real Madrid scored the 2-2 in Emerson’s own goal, who was later sent off. Sergio Ramos won the match with a brazen Panana penalty shot after Marc Bartra stumbled and struck the ball with his arm in a duel with Borja Mayoral.

The reigning league champions dominated after being sent off and had even clearer chances to win. Betis had a full pot and zero setbacks before Saturday’s game, but failed to prevent Real Madrid from taking their first win.

God begins

Real Madrid got off to a good start in Seville and had several great chances in the first quarter. Federico Valverde took the lead after 14 minutes, making it 0 – 1 after an elegant play through the center, where Karim Benzema was the finisher. The Frenchman ravaged Alex Moreno and ended up hitting from the dead line. In the closest corner of the penalty area, Valverde put the tip of his foot into the ball.

The minute later, it should have been 2-0. Benzema’s post was cleared directly to Sergio Ramos, who was left alone with almost the entire goal to aim for. The shot went slightly to the side for goal.

Betis star Sergio Canales had already presented himself with a post to Joaquín that forced goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to make a great save, and was central when the home team turned the game around.

In the 35th minute, Joaquín sent the corner kick to the right of Canales, who headed hard over the goalkeeper. Ødegaard did not stretch under pressure, and had to hit a post that midfielder Aissa Mandi stabbed into goal after crushing Raphaël Varane in midair.

Two minutes later it was 2-1. Canales delivered a great cross ball to Nabil Fekir, who registered for William Carvalho. Ødegaard was the closest rival, but failed to block the shot or annoy the Betis player enough to prevent him from shooting the post.

Replaced

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane sent Luka Modric for a slightly injured Toni Kroos just before half-time and replaced Ødegaard with Isco before the second half began.

Already in minute 48, the guests of the capital were up to date. After a great attack led by Benzema and Valverde, Dani Carvajal scored from the right. The ball was on its way to Benzema inside the area and, in an attempt to clear, Emerson sent it to his own goal.

Emerson became the unfortunate bird of the hosts. Halfway through the second half, he was sent off with a red card after a VAR verdict. Luka Jovic appeared to be offside when it was played, but VAR concluded that he was not. Then he turned red because Emerson used illegal means against him just outside the 16-meter line.

Ramos sent the free kick inches off the crossbar, but the blocking giant was going to win the game anyway.
