Infection rates in Sweden continue to rise. During a speech to the people on Sunday, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven called on the Swedes to take responsibility
On the same day that Sweden receives a lower rating from the OECD organization in handling the country’s crown, Löfven arrives with an urgent prayer:
– Everything you wanted to do, but that is not necessary: cancel it there, reserve it or expose it.
66 new deaths were reported in Sweden on Friday, bringing the death toll to 6,406.
“Let us remember that behind every death there are people who have had a loved father, son or friend stolen from them,” Löfven said.

– When the coronavirus arrived in our country, we agreed to take responsibility. We take responsibility and give healthcare professionals the opportunity to deal with the acute crisis. We did it together. That is our strength, the strength of Sweden.
It was a serious Löfven who spoke to the Swedish people on Sunday. He notes that infection rates have risen this fall and says many have been careless with advice.
– When we are one day through this crisis, we will remember how we help each other, we will remember solidarity and the feeling of unity. But then we must show our unity here and now and take responsibility.
At the same time, the Prime Minister wanted to remind people that Sweden does not stand still.
– To you who feel that everything is dark now, I want to tell you that it is not useless. The health service is maintained, after all. After all, houses and roads are being built. And the children get an education.
During the speech, the Swedish Prime Minister issued a series of warnings:
– Stay up-to-date on tips and rules wherever you are, meet only those you live with and if you live alone choose one or at most two to be with, but keep your distance.
– For you who are an employer: makes it possible to work from home.
– To those of you who think that this does not affect you, I want to say this: even if you are not sick, you can infect someone who becomes seriously ill. It is for the people you have to sacrifice, it is to them that you must show self-discipline and responsibility.
– When we’re done with this, everyone should remember how we got through it. How we stood together and showed solidarity and contracted the infection. But then we have to make an effort now. Now we do this together, for Sweden.
The International Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has investigated how 31 European member states have operated during the pandemic.
SVT writes that the report is gloomy reading for Swedes.
According to the OECD, the country has had great problems reducing the r number. While the other countries spent an average of 34 days getting the r number below 1, Sweden spent 58 days.
In comparison, Norway used 27, according to the report reproduced by SVT.
