Nesbyen joins the ranks of the Viken municipalities that have introduced strict measures before Easter, including Hol, Hemsedal and Trysil.

It was on Monday night that the crisis management in Nesbyen adopted a local regulation stating that it is forbidden to have more than two guests from March 23 to April 12.

Hallingdølen was the first to mention the case.

– We experience that this is very important to avoid infections, says Tore Haraldset to VG.

At Easter, the mayor expects the municipality’s population to increase from 3,300 to approximately 15,000, with cabin tourists occupying the roughly 4,000 cabins in the municipality.

At the level of measures introduced regionally in Viken, visits are not recommended, but it is not forbidden to have guests.

– We have experienced that more people than recommended have gathered in cabins, and this is something we want to avoid at Easter. Now that we have a local regulation that bans more than two guests, we can report on these matters, he says.

– It is a significant difference from only having recommendations or recommendations. Now the police can do something.

Last week, the government introduced strict regional corona measures across Viken. The measures of several mayors of the home municipalities to react, among them Haraldset, who declared to VG that he perceived it as “unfair and strict”.

Now it is taking even stricter local measures. Perhaps that suggests that the regional measures weren’t so stupid after all?

– It’s really a good question. What we at least want is to make sure that there is an infection once such strict rules have been introduced, and then it was necessary to have a regulation on the number of guests.

The municipality has not had an infection since November, Haraldset says.

Are you worried that contagion will occur in the municipality during Easter?

– The winter break went well, but it is clear that the mutated virus means that the infection spreads faster if it arrives first. We are not very concerned yet, he says.

– The people from the cottage in the village have mostly shown great confidence, and they are welcome in the municipality, but we hope that they will follow the rules and be very careful.
