At Idar Vollvik’s Ludostore online store, customers can still purchase surgical-rated face masks.

– We are working to make a decision on the sales ban, Tove Jahr, unit manager at the Norwegian Medicines Agency told E24 on Thursday afternoon.

E24 is informed that the decision is expected to be made no later than Friday morning.

Prosecutor Sigrid Sulland explains to E24 that it is the Norwegian Medicines Agency that has the authority to make decisions to stop sales.

– Ludostore is an online store that sells many different items, which also have completely different things from face masks, says Sulland.

E24 has contacted Vollvik’s defender, Einar Råen, who does not want to comment on the work of the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

Use discouraged

In a press release Wednesday afternoon, the Norwegian Medicines Agency advised against the use of the products in the health service and among consumers in need of protection.

– What’s behind the decision?

– Suspicion that non-medical mouthpieces are marked and sold as medical mouthpieces. We take this seriously, replied the manager of the Tove Jahr unit of the Norwegian Medicines Agency via email.

– It’s about trust in medical equipment, consumer safety and the assurance that what you buy is not meant to be anything other than what it should be, he says.

Idar Vollvik was arrested by police on Tuesday. Then they also acted against three different directions. Vollvik does not admit criminal guilt, said his defender, Einar Råen.

“According to my client, he does not deliver masks to the health service. So this does not seem to be a problem,” Vollvik’s defender wrote in a text message to E24.

The Norwegian Medicines Agency has previously stated to E24 that they do not know where the nozzles are distributed.

Police believe the former billionaire has deliberately repackaged bandages that are not approved for medical use and has marked them as surgical bandages. Surgical dressings are approved for use in healthcare.
