On Monday afternoon, Greek media reported that a Norwegian was wanted for the murder of his partner in the city of Chania on the Greek resort island of Crete.

This is also confirmed by Paris Xinopoulos, head of the Chania crime department.

“Yes, a Norwegian is considered the main suspect in the murder and we are still looking for him,” he told Dagbladet on Tuesday afternoon.

A few hours later word came that the Norwegian had been arrested in the city of Heraklion on the Greek holiday island. According to Greek media, he will be presented for imprisonment in Chania on Wednesday.

Late Tuesday night, the Norwegian is said to have arrived in Chania.

– A lot of blood

The victim, a Greek woman in her 50s, was found in her own home at 11 a.m. local time on Sunday.

The autopsy was performed by forensic pathologist Stamatis Belivanis.

He tells Dagbladet that the cause of death is blood loss as a result of 14 stab wounds. It is estimated that the time of death will be Wednesday the 13th or Thursday the 14th of January.

– There was a lot of blood at the scene. There was blood almost everywhere. And I’m one hundred percent sure there was a little fight before the woman was stabbed, Belivanis told Dagbladet.

Both the woman’s minor bodily injuries and the condition of the crime scene support this, according to Belivanis. Among other things, he talks about shards of glass on the ground.

On Monday, Greek media reported that the crime scene was marked by an argument that may have taken place.
