Norway’s European Championship dream shattered: –

ULLEVAAL (Dagbladet): The blackouts against Hungary in 2015 and Turkey in 2007 were repeated in Ullevaal on Thursday night.

– We’re just not good enough at the biggest games, take us today and- We can’t say anything else that is deserved, admitted John Arne Riise at the Dagbladet studio.

Overall, they deservedly win, there is nothing more to say, Lagberbäck himself told TV 2.

– horrible

– I don’t swear, but this is very uncomfortable, Haaland tells TV 2 after the game.

Kristoffer Ajer reveals that there is no good atmosphere in the dressing room after the game.

– It’s miserable. We had great ambitions to qualify for the championship, he says.

Martin Ødegaard looked down in an interview with TV 2.

– It was leaden. We’re not good enough, we just have to admit it, Ødegaard says.

– We have too many having a bad day and we fight collectively. Serbia deservedly wins and gets the game where it wants, continues.

Because the Serbs clearly produced the most opportunities. Mathis Normann saved extra innings for Norway, but there the Serbs were clearly better again, where they almost played for victory.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored the decisive goal in the first extra round, after Norway was totally outmaneuvered.

Therefore, there will be no play-off final in November for next summer’s European Championship final matches for Norway. It will be played between Scotland and Serbia.

Withdrawal of Serbian shock

Serbia coach Ljubisa Tumbakovic surprised by beating star Milinkovic-Savic, Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic and Crystal Palace player Luka Milivojevic, but got the tactic right.

For the first 45 minutes, the Serbs produced chances like pearls on a string, but they were totally ineffective. Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic landed several of them, including a ball that flew from five meters, while the Norwegian cage was wide open.

– It’s not possible. We’re lucky, John Arne Riise commented in the Dagbladet studio.

Despite Norway struggling, Erling Braut Haaland had a chance on a corner kick, but a defender saved the header down the line.

Cuffs made

The problems of the first part forced Lars Lagerbäck to act.

That meant Markus Henriksen was out during the break, while Matthias Normann came in.

But it helped little. Serbian rule continued.

Ten minutes into the second half, Filip Djuricic had to get the ball within five meters of Norway and shot completely free. But a great save by Rune Almening Jarstein saved Norway.

When Stefan Johansen had to leave with an injury midway through, Lagerbäck made an offensive effort to put in Joshua King.

With King on the field, the game was tied, and the substitute even tried the shot from distance, but the shot was stopped.

But then Serbia lifted its big star. After a short fight with the defender, Milinkovic-Savic finally got the ball home. On the field he ran free, and when the ball was headed for five meters, he put the ball into goal.

Equalization and extra inputs

Then Norway got it all up in attack, and just minutes before the end Normann knocked the ball down in the 17-18 meter corner and secured extra innings.

Serbian rule continued. Towards the end of the first extra round, Serbia had a great double chance. First Lazovic shot the post, then Mitrovic’s shot was saved by Jarstein.

But that was just a warning. The next minute, Norway was completely outmatched again. Serbia rolled within 16 meters of Norway. Finally, Milinkovic-Savic hit the ball within five meters at an angle, and passed the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.
