UPDATED AT 3:30 PM: Police report that there are still signs of activity on the mountain and police ask the public to stay away from the relevant area. Bolmannsveien / Blodveien traverses highly exposed terrain, and it is strongly recommended not to choose this as a walking route today, police wrote on Twitter Monday afternoon.
Early Monday, a rockslide passed over the E6 at Falsnes, in the Storfjord municipality, not far from Skibotn. This was announced by the operations center in the Troms police district shortly before 1:20 p.m.
“The road is blocked by the public. The road notification center has been notified and the police are heading to the scene,” the police wrote on Twitter.
The road was originally blocked by individuals who arrived at the scene while waiting for the police and other emergency services.
– The size of a cabin
A little later on Monday, the operations center in the Troms police district tells Nordlys that the case has some scope.
– Now we have received a message from our patrol, which has reached the place. They say it’s a hut-sized rock blocking the road. There are cracks in the asphalt and they say they hear rocks in the mountains, says operations manager Morten Augensen.
– Veimeldingssentralen warns geologists, and contractors are on their way to the site, he says.
Closed indefinitely
Augensen further claims that two police patrols have been dispatched to Falsnes, in addition to a UP patrol.
– Otherwise, we still do not have a complete description, says Morten Augensen.
E6 is currently closed indefinitely. According to a Northern Lights tipper, several rocks have fallen from the mountainside.
