Coop recalls four varieties of sesame crusty bread, bread, and sausage bread after it has been tested to contain large doses of ethylene oxide in Indian sesame seeds.
According to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, the seeds do not pose an acute health hazard, but can be harmful over time.
– All products made with these sesame seeds have been withdrawn from stores. The products that are now available in stores are produced with safe sesame seeds. We still want to warn customers that they can have these products at home, as the products have a long shelf life, says communications manager Harald Kristiansen at Coop Norway.
Customers who have the products can return them to the store and get their money or a new product back.
