Nordlandsbanen field for “children’s waffles” in the professional committee for the food industry – NRK

The committee concludes that the name of the product, which is especially aimed at children, requires special care when designing marketing materials.

– It is reasonable to believe that the children who come to the restaurant cart will see a poster with a large image of a waffle with tenacious men as one in an eye-catching invitation to buy and therefore influenced by their bullying / buying behavior, they it says in an MFU press release.

Wenche Jacobsen, head of the MFU secretariat, emphasizes that there is a ban on the marketing of products specifically intended for children.

– The guidelines say that you can have a menu sign that says what products are for sale. But these were posters that were of such a nature that they attracted more attention, he tells NRK.

– When you have products that are specifically geared towards kids, like a kiddie waffle with tough guys, it definitely has to be said that there are very, very strict guidelines. And the committee thought this was a violation.

Therefore, they believe that the poster violates the guidelines, but that said product can be part of an overall menu presentation on the counter or in the checkout area.

Following the complaint to MFU, Nordlandsbanen changed the name of the product and removed the marketing measures related to the “children’s waffle”.
