(Nettavisen): In the proposed state budget for 2021, the government wants the following changes to central taxes:

Alcohol:

Taxes on alcohol are increased by about 3.4 percent.

In addition to all the fees mentioned in this case, there is the VAT (VAT) of 25 percent (tax on the tax).

This means that the alcohol tax for a liter of ordinary beer is actually 29 crowns, while the state charges almost 60 crowns in alcohol taxes for a bottle of red wine.

Tobacco:

Tobacco prices mainly increase around 3.5 percent.

Fuel (road use fee) and traffic insurance fee

In the case of gasoline, the CO2 tax has been increased from NOK 1.26 to NOK 1.37 per liter, an increase of up to 8.7%. For diesel, it increases from NOK 1.45 to NOK 1.58.

Also, the pure toll is adjusted as follows:

Gasoline: NOK 4.91 to 5.01 per liter Diesel: NOK 3.62 to 3.58 per liter (1.1% reduction) Biodiesel within turnover requirements: NOK 3.62 to 3.66 per liter

The government also chooses to increase the auto insurance tax, formerly known as the annual tax. This is a fee that is paid per day the car is registered.

The electricity rate

Charges for electricity are adjusted from 16.13 øre per kWh to 16.69 øre, an increase well above the price increase.

Including the 25 percent VAT, this means that the electricity tax will be 20.86 per kWh.

The electricity tax forms a large part of your electricity bill. According to the industry website Enerwe, the electricity tax has been more expensive than the electricity itself for 85 of the 100 hours so far this year.

Introduces auto insurance tax for electric cars

Electric car owners will now have to pay auto insurance tax at the same rate as for motorcycles.

It is indicated in the budget proposal of the Ministry of Transport.

Electric cars have been exempt from car insurance tax for several years, which for fossil cars weighing less than 7,500 kilos is NOK 2,972 in 2020. The rate for motorcycles, which is what electric cars must pay, is 2,062 NOK per year.

The government refers to the tax as a first step towards more sustainable car taxes. In addition, they increase the requirement of electric autonomy in the single tariff of rechargeable hybrid cars.
