Nordland advises: each household has 10 to 20 drawers. Today at least you have to look for them

If you walk without reflections, a motorist at 50 km / h will only have 2 seconds to see you. If you use a reflector, the motorist has 10 seconds at his disposal, and you are visible at a distance of 140 meters, when the car in front of you uses the low beam.

– It gets too stupid

Write the county municipality of Nordland, which is responsible for a significant number of kilometers of roads in the county, where darkness reigns in winter.

Greater visibility can contribute to fewer deaths and serious injuries in traffic. Still, only four out of ten use reflexes. This is despite the fact that, according to Trygg Trafikk, there are between 10 and 20 reflectors in the drawers of any home at any given time.

Thursday October 15 is the national day of reflection. The Nordland County Road Safety Committee and Trygg Trafikk encourage you to find the reflectors you have and attach them to yourself and your loved ones.

– It becomes too stupid to leave the reflection when you realize it works, says communications consultant Ann-Helen Hansen at Trygg Trafikk.

Paradoxical numbers

According to her, only 23 percent of us always use reflexes. Also, 46 percent say they use reflexes quite often.

Not good enough, Hansen says.

– We like to drop the reflection on short trips or when walking on lighted streets, but it is just as important to use the reflection as the opposite in the dark, it says in a press release.

Trygg Trafikk and the Fremtind insurance company annual survey show that up to 79 percent believe that reflection in the dark should be mandatory and up to 96 percent believe that increased use of reflections will help reduce dangerous situations in the traffic when it’s dark.
