Petter Stordalen’s Nordic Choice has sent layoffs. The hotel chain will not say how many employees will be laid off.

Communication consultant Geir Økland at Nordic Choice confirms that an employee layoff has been submitted. The company will not list a number and otherwise has no comment on it.
Group shop steward Merethe Sutton at Nordic Choice confirms that there have been layoffs at head office.
– The head office has gotten the worst of it so far and there have been layoffs. Some have resigned. As far as I know, there have been no layoffs locally, Sutton tells E24.
There will be group committee meetings next week where the issue will be discussed.
– We have taken the initiative
The hotel chain and the rest of the industry are struggling in a tough market. Tourists and conference guests are absent as a result of the crown’s measures, which have now been further toughened.
– I am afraid we must look at reality and do something now, unless the Storting decides to extend the dismissal period to 52 weeks. It’s uncomfortable for politicians, says Sutton, shop steward for Nordic Choice.

– The hard work we are talking about is our industry that has taken over. We have not had any infection in the hotels and we take it very seriously. It is our industry that has taken the brunt, he says.
She says she wants to hate the virus, but also that the measures that have now come in should have been implemented much earlier and across the country.
The industry is struggling
The situation has worsened after the new restrictions, to prevent infection by the coronavirus.
Competitor Scandic has previously announced, among other things, the reduction of 1,000 man-years, of which 300 have become layoffs.
Thon Hotels has also announced that there will be layoffs, but has not said how many may be affected.
