Homicide suspect Tom Hagen (70) was interviewed for just over ten minutes by NRK, but is not warned of further police interrogations.
This is confirmed by the 70-year-old defender, lawyer Svein Holden, to VG on Monday morning.
– I don’t want to believe it, but I don’t want to advise you to do so. We haven’t talked about it for a long time, Holden says.
Last Saturday marked two years since Anne-Elisabeth Hagen disappeared from the couple’s home at Sloraveien 4 in Lørenskog. In this sense, the husband was interviewed for the first time since the disappearance, since «I believe that there is information between people, that can come out».
In a ten-minute interview with NRK, he answered questions about the murder charge, the arrest, the day his wife disappeared, and a marriage of nearly 50 years.

The police have also wanted further questioning of the businessman accused of murder, but have refused to meet with them after questioning 2-3 hours after the arrest.
– What is the reason for this?
– There are many who ask, but I do not want to say anything more than what I have said before, answers the defender.
Police have stated that they have made relevant findings in the criminal case following Tom Hagen’s arrest in late April and that they have several new issues that they want the 70-year-old to explain.
– Why don’t you want to answer questions from the police on new topics?
– It’s the same as I answered before, Holden answers.
The Eastern Police District does not want to comment on the case.

In the days and weeks following his arrest this spring, Tom Hagen’s trust in the police significantly weakened. The 70-year-old also doubted that further interrogations would take the case further and therefore rejected the police’s request for more planned interrogations.
– For my part, I do not see how an additional questioning of Tom Hagen is adequate to carry the case forward. The investigation now does not appear to be aimed at clarifying what happened to Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, but instead has been stuck in a dead end where police are only looking to arrest Tom Hagen, Holden wrote in an email to VG. begining of June.
Tom Hagen denies his criminal guilt for murder and was released by the Eidsivating Court of Appeal after eleven days in custody. The court determined that there was no good reason to suspect his murder.
– When the above conditions are compared with the fact that personal information from interrogations is regularly leaked to the media, this means that our confidence in the police investigation is significantly weakened, the defender wrote.

The decision not to appear for further questioning comes after several public disputes between the police and the Hagen family:
- Then-prosecutor Haris Hrenovica claimed that Hagen appeared “a bit shabby” after interrupting an interrogation due to his health.
- The chief prosecutor also noted that the police took “Tom Hagen to work in Lørenskog, as he himself wished.”
Holden reacted strongly to these statements.
– That the police prosecutor, who wanted to arrest Hagen after the Court of Appeals release, almost publicly harassed about Hagen’s state of health and called him “a little pitiful” is provocative, Holden wrote to VG.
The chief prosecutor has also stated that the police throughout much of the investigation have experienced Tom Hagen as a challenge to cooperate.
– Has appeared in 12 interrogations, resulting in several hundred pages of interrogation reports. In addition to the interrogations, Hagen has posed in several meetings with the police and presented all the information that he believes may be relevant. It is therefore surprising that the police publicly criticize him for his lack of cooperation, Holden wrote.
