Oslo:

There have been 162 new corona infections in Oslo in the last 24 hours, figures from the Oslo municipality show.

The number of contagion cases in the capital has increased by one since Wednesday. Yesterday’s figures were the highest number of people infected in one day during the pandemic.

– This is no longer a charity, this is serious, says City Councilor Raymond Johansen about the high numbers.

The municipality of Oslo has introduced various measures, but the infection is not yet under control.

– There is still too much social contact. The infection is too high in all of Norway, says Johansen.

Little pats, hugs and “high five”

One in three cases of infection in the capital occurs in private homes.

– We see that infection rates are relatively high among young adults and adolescents. Then I’ll encourage less patting, hugging, and “high five” outside, says Johansen.

He believes that these groups are the ones that bring the infection to the private home.

The city council leader’s goal is to prevent the closure of Oslo. It is most contagious in the 20-29 and 30-39 age groups.

– It is still what we should hope that we can be a reasonably open city, he says.
