It is the nursing home itself that this Tuesday reports on the latest death on its website. The deceased is a woman in her 90s, who was infected with the coronavirus.

– It’s another reminder of how sad and serious the outbreak has been, City Chief Carl Magnus Jensen tells NRK.

The nursing home is one of the most affected by deaths related to coronary heart disease in the country. A total of nine of the 23 residents have died from the virus in the past two weeks.

The municipal chief says that all residents have now been confirmed to be infected.

– There is contagion between neighbors and employees, who together now number 49 people.

Reported violation of infection control

A guard surrogate working at Villa Skaar Valstad sent a notification to the Norwegian Board of Health Supervision about what the surrogate thought was a violation of infection control in the nursing home. The newspaper VG.

The Norwegian Board of Health confirms to the newspaper that they have received a notification from the alternate.

The managing director of the nursing home, Richard Skaar Thorsrud, tells VG that they take this very seriously and will now follow up on all incidents during the indicated on-call period.

Worried about social contact

So far in November, almost 100 cases of infection have been detected in the municipality, compared to October 30.

The municipal chief informs NRK that between 70 and 80 of the 100 cases are related to Villa Skaar, and details the relationship that those infected have with the nursing home:

– 46 in the nursing home, 10 in the municipal nursing home, about 10 infected household members, 3 infected in the municipal nursing home, and about 10 with a somewhat uncertain but possible relationship with Valstad, Jensen writes.

The professional basis for the local regulations reviewed in Eidsvoll states that the vast majority of infection cases are related to the nursing home:

‘Therefore, most of the cases can be related to various health institutions and, to a large extent, to the outbreak in the Valstad nursing home. However, there is concern and risk of local spread of infection associated with the social contacts of all these infected individuals before the infection was discovered, “writes Jensen.

It was VG who first mentioned the evaluation.

Considering fine-tuning measurements

Jensen also writes that the infection has spread in the homes and social circles of employees.

“All close contacts that are discovered are quarantined, but the trace of infection must not become absolute,” he writes.

The infection has also been demonstrated in the Vilberg health park and in a municipal residence in Eidsvoll.

The councilman has agreed with Jensen’s assessments. The municipality will now consider tightening infection control measures.

It is recommended to extend the requirement for the use of face masks in public transport and in taxis to also apply to stores and shopping centers.

Wearing a face mask is also recommended at funerals. The recommended maximum limit for public events is 20 participants.

The closure of schools and kindergartens is currently not considered a relevant measure. Kindergartens, elementary schools, secondary schools and upper secondary schools can continue at the yellow level.
