Before the Newcastle game, Ole Gunnar Solskjær was clear that he wanted a response from his players following a 6-1 loss to Tottenham in the previous round, and he surprised with the team’s selection when he made five changes.

Newcastle took the lead after two minutes, before Harry Maguire equalized before the break. United put pressure on Newcastle, but when Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty kick, he appeared to be heading towards goal.
