New tips for infection control: these are the new crown measures

[ad_1]

– The situation has changed dramatically. The curve gets steeper week after week. In the last week, we have recorded almost as many cases of infection as we did throughout September and we are waking up to new records of infection, Prime Minister Erna Solberg said in her briefing to the Storting on Thursday morning.

– My main message today will be that Norwegians in the coming weeks should stay home as much as possible and limit social contact with other people. Developments can be reversed if we take stronger measures to limit mobility and reduce social contact between people. This means that people, as much as possible, now have to stay home and have as little contact as possible with other people than with their loved ones.

– It can get out of control

The Prime Minister singles out Oslo and Bergen as places where the situation is particularly dire.

– We must be able to limit the spread in urban areas like Oslo, Drammen and Bergen, reduce the outbreaks we see across the country and limit import infection significantly. If we don’t, there’s a high chance the infection will spiral out of control, Solberg says.

According to Solberg, the objective when measures are now tightened is that the burden of disease is low and that the health and care service can handle the number of patients.

The government has decided on the following new changes:

• Recommendation that everyone in the next few weeks should stay home as much as possible and limit social contact with other people.

• Young people and adults who have found themselves in situations where it has been difficult for them to stay at least one meter apart should stay at least two meters away when visiting people in risk groups.

Limit of up to 20 people in private meetings and 50 people in indoor events without fixed seating. Inside, there can still be up to 200 people at events where all the spectators sit in fixed seats.

• Unnecessary domestic travel should be avoided. Business trips that are considered necessary and trips to leisure establishments that can be made without contact with others are excluded.

• A national bar stop will be introduced at 2400. No new guests can be admitted after kl. 2200. This applies from midnight to Saturday, November 7.

• Foreign travelers to Norway coming from red countries or areas must submit a negative covid-19 test before entering Norway. The test must be done less than 72 hours before entry. This will be implemented starting at midnight on Monday, November 9.

• People who come without a permanent residence, employer or client in Norway must stay in quarantine hotels and prove themselves for a period of up to ten days. The period can be shortened when the effect of negative pre-entry tests and tests carried out in Norway are evaluated in more detail. The Norwegian Directorate of Health has been commissioned to investigate in more detail how these requirements can be introduced.

• A series of new measures are added to the list to be evaluated by municipalities with high levels of infection.

• In addition, the Norwegian Health Directorate receives various tasks, including evaluating measures to protect people in risk groups and to protect vulnerable groups in society.

– End of the holidays

– The requirement for a full test certificate is similar to the system they have in Denmark. But we present it for all travelers from countries that we categorize as red. With us, this is in addition to the quarantine requirement for the first ten days in the country. The requirement will not apply to Norwegians or to people residing in Norway, Solberg continues.

The Prime Minister also explains the details of the events. Several of the outbreaks are related to larger indoor events, and especially private gatherings, Solberg says. This is one of the reasons why private gatherings are now being restricted in public places and rented premises.

– We also introduced a limit of a maximum of 50 people at indoor events where not everyone sits in fixed seats. This means, for example, that you can normally be present at seminars, religious gatherings, wedding and funeral ceremonies and sporting events in indoor sports, says the Prime Minister, and continues with the details to pour and celebrate.

– Some claim that early drinking stops will lead to more private parties. The answer is: now there must be an end to the holidays for a period, says Solberg.
